ING New York City Marathon – November 3rd
This momentous marathon takes it’s runners through four distinctively different boroughs of the Big Apple. Rated as one of the most spectator-dense marathons on the market, this road race is almost as much fun to spectate as it is to run, and involves a lot less nipple-chaffing.
AAC’s Fall Highball Craggin’ Classic – November 8-10th
The American Alpine Club (AAC) is putting on yet another Craggin’ Classic, this time in Bishop, California. Come join the festivities and enjoy silent auctions, food, bonfires, and special presentations from leaders in the industry. And with New Belgium making an appearance, did someone say free beer?!
Portland Alpine Festival – November 11-16
Come celebrate the North-West mountain scene at the annual Alpine Festival in Portland. With family-fun events and mountain-themed movies, this festival will get you in the mood for some mountaineering. And with participation and clinics from adventure icons like Conrad Anker, Margo Talbot, and John Frieh; it should be a pretty good time.
The North Face Speaker Series: Mark Synott – “Off the Map” – November 5th, 12th, & 14th
Mark Synott has ventured the globe to find and climb some of the most remote cliffs out there. Join him as he talks about perserverance, the need for adventure, and what drives his crazy escapades. He’ll be touring the South East region stopping in Charlottesville, Raleigh, and Birmingham; stop in and get some motivation of your own.
Reel Rock Tour – All Month
Check out the local listings to see when the Reel Rock, Rock Climbing Movie collection will be stopping in your city. Formula 1 Grand Prix, United States – November 15-17th
Catch some speed at the annual Grand Prix for Formula 1 racing in Austin Texas. Sure to be a fast-paced event, this is the big one for Formula 1 drivers. Bring your earplugs, your binoculars, and whatever you do, don’t blink and miss this epic event.
Red Bull Illume: Scottsdale – November 14th – 24th
This cool event showcases some of the best outdoor photography on the market. And with a backdrop for every picture of a glowing picture frame, this event guarantees fun for all ages, a great option for date night, and promises of photographic inspiration behind every phosphorescent frame.
Turkey Trot – November 28th (Thanksgiving Day)
Touted as a turkey day tradition that rivals your grandma’s cranberry sauce, Turkey Trots are annual 5k’s across the country that precede Thanksgiving dinner. With over 100 registered events, this spotlight goes to Buffalo’s Turkey Trot, the longest running race in America celebrating its 118 year.
Red Bull’s Day in the Dirt – November 29th – December 1st
Celebrating everything motocross, this day in the dirt in San Bernardino, California has expanded into three days of races, wheelies, and dirt clods. Check out the fun and grab some seats for what Red Bull claims is the “Woodstock of motorbikes”.
Adventure Racing World Championship, Costa Rica – November 29th – December 12th
This hardcore event is not for the faint of heart. Including such activities as rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, trekking, rope work, coasteering (coastal orienteering), and canyoning, all amount to 700+ kilometers of adventure racing fun. And that’s only if you stay on course.
