ATC Launches Appalachian Trail Video Contest

Pop quiz- Do you love the Appalachian Trail? Are you active in the Appalachian community, volunteer in the preservation of the trail, are an avid hiker or a passionate artist? If you answered yes to at least the first question (and by golly, you better have said yes!) then read on for the opportunity of a lifetime.

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) launched the “I Am The Appalachian Trail” Video Contest last Friday, open to fan-made video submissions that embrace love and appreciation for the Appalachian Trail (A.T.).

Here’s how it works, you A.T. lovin’ fools.

Contestants must answer the question: “How are you a part of the A.T.?” emphasizing how they are connected to the trail. Video shorts must be no more than three minutes long. One lucky winner will have their video screened in theaters at the ATC’s 2014 Membership Drive  and will receive a custom ATC ENO hammock, courtesy of ENO.The top three videos will each win a 1 year membership to the ATC and be featured in an issue of A.T. Journeys, the official magazine of the ATC.

The winners will be determined through voting on the ATC Facebook page. Video submissions will be accepted until Sept. 15 and voting will commence Sept. 16-Nov. 8. The winners will be announced Monday, Nov. 11.

The A.T. is a 2,189 mile long trail crossing through 14 states following the Appalachian mountain range from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Katahdin, Maine. The mission of the ATC is to preserve and manage the Appalachian Trail – ensuring that its vast natural beauty and priceless cultural heritage can be shared and enjoyed today, tomorrow, and for centuries to come.
